Product Guide: BP Baseline

Introduction

Getting a reliable blood pressure baseline is an important aspect of the Codex Virtual Hypertension Program, and enables accurate assessment of a patient’s condition. Ideally, the baseline is obtained right after program enrollment as well as at certain key milestones, such as 45 days or 90 days after program enrollment.

Typically, the baseline involves obtaining morning and evening measurements on at least 3 separate days within a week. Each “session” (morning or evening) requires two back-to-back measurements.

Initial Baseline

The first care plan for a patient that contains a blood pressure task will trigger a new baseline flow, which starts with the screen below.

As shown below, tapping on the “Get Started” task reveals three steps:

  1. Pairing the BP Monitor

  2. Scheduling the BP baseline sessions

  3. A prompt for the first baseline session

Once the BP monitor has been paired, the second task is highlighted automatically.

Tapping on the “Schedule” task reveals the following explanatory screens …

… followed by these screens which allow the Allie user to schedule times for the sessions.

Once the sessions are scheduled, Allie will automatically generate reminders as indicated in the screen below.

Finally, the user is prompted to take two blood pressure readings 1 minute apart as shown below. Since the BP monitor has been paired over bluetooth, the measurements should be synced with Allie automatically, as shown on the screen to the right below.

Once the baseline sessions have been scheduled, the user will see Morning and Evening baseline sessions displayed in Allie as shown below (the screenshot on the left displays the UI before the measurements are taken, while that on the right reflects an evening session with complete measurements).

Once the required number of baseline sessions are completed, the user is informed that a baseline blood pressure value has been computed as shown below.

Re-establishing Baseline

As mentioned earlier in this document, the user is prompted to re-establish the BP baseline at 45 days and 90 days after the initial care plan was assigned. The flow starts with this screen:

Tapping on the Update Baseline card leads the user to the information screens below (as a refresher).

Beyond the informational screens, the user is prompted to set up times for the morning and the evening baseline sessions, as in the initial baselining.

At this point, the baseline sessions are scheduled and the user will receive reminders.
