Omron Blood Pressure Monitor Error Messages
First, start by asking the patient to take both batteries out of the monitor, wait 2 minutes and put the batteries back in.
Please scroll down to find the message that is appearing on the screen of your Blood Pressure Monitor:
An "E1" error indicates there is likely an issue with how your blood pressure monitor is set up or being used. This can include:
- Starting/stopping the cuff when the arm cuff was not connected
- There is an issue with the air plug and its connection to the monitor
- The arm cuff is not applied correctly - possibly too loose
- Air is leaking
To address this, please
- Turn off the monitor
- Disconnect/reconnect the air plug and ensure it is connected correctly
- Make sure the cuff fits snugly on your arm
- There should be just enough room for 2 fingers to slide between the cuff and your upper arm
- If you are using the grey cuff, make sure it is on tight enough so it can fully expand
- Try taking another reading
- If air appears to be leaking from the arm cuff, please contact Codex Support and we will send you a new cuff
An "E2" error indicates there is some issue with taking the reading. This can include:
- Moving or talking while taking a measurement
- Please make sure to remain still and not talk during the measurement
- A systolic reading of over 210 is preventing the cuff from taking the measurement
If you are not able to resolve, please try taking a reading and then press/hold START/STOP until the monitor inflates approximately 30 - 40 mmg HG higher than your expected systolic pressure.
An "E3" error indicates the cuff is inflated past the maximum allowable pressure.
To address this, make sure not to touch the cuff and/or bend the tub while taking a measurement. If issues continue, please try taking a reading and then press/hold START/STOP until the monitor inflates approximately 30 - 40 mmg HG higher than your expected systolic pressure.
An "E4" error indicates that vibrations are disrupting a measurement
Please make sure to remain still and not talk during the measurement, then try again.
An "E5" error indicates the pulse rate is not being detected correctly. Additional symbols may also appear in this case.
To address this, try taking the cuff off and then wrapping it around your arm again, then try taking another measurement. Make sure to remain still and sit with proper posture (feet on ground, arm at heart's length, back straight against a chair) and try again.
If you are also seeing a symbol like the one below, it is recommended that you consult your physician.
This generic error indicates the monitor has malfunctioned. Try removing the batteries and then taking another measurement. If the error continues, please contact Codex Support and we will send you a new cuff.

Other messages could indicate that the device is in pairing mode, has run out of batteries, there are too many saved/un-synchronized readings, or general errors. Please feel free to contact Codex Support with questions (either via email or within Allie).
Errors With Taking Readings / Synchronizing with Allie
If you are seeing measurements display on the Blood Pressure Monitor screen, but are not seeing those readings in Allie, please try the following:
- If you used the "Omron Connect" app with the cuff, you will need to unpair the BP5250 from "Omron" by following these steps:
- Go to "More"
- Choose "Profile"
- "Connected Devices"
- Choose "Unpair"
- Confirm "Yes"
- For best results, we recommend opening Allie before taking a reading. Allie should receive your reading with 20 - 40 seconds after it displays on the screen of your blood pressure monitor.
- Check Settings --> Connected Devices and confirm that you see the BP5250 listed. The date/time of the last synchronization should also display
- If it has been a little while since you last received a reading, please try re-pairing the cuff:
- From the "Connected Devices" screen, tap the BP5250 and confirm you wish to "Unpair"
- If you are on an iPhone, then go to your phone's "Settings" application and choose "Bluetooth"
- Tap the "i" symbol for the BP5250
- Tap "Forget this Device", and then confirm you wish to "Forget"
- If you are on an iPhone, then go to your phone's "Settings" application and choose "Bluetooth"
- Then go back to Allie and try the pairing process again from the beginning
- From the "Connected Devices" screen, tap the BP5250 and confirm you wish to "Unpair"
