Background
Allie features Bluetooth integration with both the Accu-Chek Guide and Guide Me blood glucose meters. This guide provides best practices to ensure seamless transfer of blood glucose data from the monitor to the Allie iOS application.
In order to pair the device, please make sure you have done the following during the installation process, completing all of the following:
- Allowed Allie to turn Bluetooth on
- Given Allie access to ""Location", Nearby Devices", and "Physical Activity"
- Confirmed that Bluetooth is turned on for your phone
Note: If you have previously used an Accu-Chek meter to send data to your phone via Bluetooth, you will need to delete any related applications. Then, go to your Bluetooth settings and "Forget" the previously connected device. We also recommend restarting your phone before proceeding with the pairing.
For best results, we recommend making sure that you are using the most recent versions of Allie and that your phone's operating system is up to date. More information on checking your settings/updating Allie can be found here.
You will also need to see an option for "Glucose Levels" in Allie. If you do not see this option, please check with your technician or Healthcare Provider to make sure they have set you up correctly.

Pairing Accu-Chek Guide BGM with Allie App
- Make sure the Guide Me is off, and then go to "Settings" in Allie at the bottom right corner
- From there, select "Connected Devices"
- Then choose "Blood Glucose Meters / CGM"
- Select the "Accu-Chek Guide" (you should see the text "No device paired" for all listed options)
- This will take you to Step 1 - From the Main Menu select Settings and tap on the OK button (if the meter is off, press and hold the "OK" or "back" button until it turns on)
- Select "Settings" on the meter, and then tap "Continue" to be brought to Step 2 in Allie - Select the Wireless option from the Settings menu.
- Choose "Wireless" on the Guide. The Guide will display a prompt to "Pair Now".
Note - if you instead see menu options, this means the meter is already paired to a device. Please follow the instructions below to unpair the phone and start again - Choose "Continue" in Allie to be brought to Step 3 Select Yes from the Pair Device menu
- Select "Yes" from the Guide and tap "Continue" in Allie to confirm you are ready to pair the Guide
- The Guide will display a 6-digit code and Allie will display a "Pairing device..." screen
- Your phone will show a "Bluetooth Pairing Request" pop-up. Enter this PIN into the pop-up and then tap "Pair"
- After a few seconds, the device will finish pairing. You'll see confirmation on the Guide screen that it is connected to your phone
- In Allie, you will see the Success confirmation. You can tap "Done" to leave pairing mode
This will return you to the "Blood Glucose Meters / CGM" screen. The Device ID will appear below "Accu-Chek Guide", and you'll see a blue checkmark confirming the device has been paired
Delete Existing Devices from the Accu-Chek Guide
If your Accu-Chek Guide was paired to any devices in the past, you will need to take a few extra steps before it can pair to Allie. You will know if this is the case when you go to Settings --> Wireless and see menu options instead of the expected "No paired device" text in the instructions above.
Take the following steps in your Accu-Chek Guide to resolve:
- Go to "Settings" and then "Wireless"
- Scroll down to the "Pairing" option and select it
- Choose "Delete Pairing"
- Select the paired phone and choose "OK"
- You'll then see the "Deleted:" confirmation text
You can now start the pairing process in Allie as described above.
Uploading Blood Glucose Readings to Allie from Guide
Now that the Guide has been paired to Allie, you will be able to send your glucose readings to Allie, which will then be visible to your healthcare provider.
To upload a reading:
- Make sure that you have Allie open
- Insert a strip into the Contour. You should then see this screen indicating it is waiting for you to take a reading:
- Apply blood/control solution to edge of strip. Try to use a single drop and make sure it is applied to the edge as best you can. When enough blood has been applied, you'll see that the Guide is now "Analyzing"
- When the Guide has finished analyzing your blood, it will display your current Blood Glucose and the option to "Add Comment"
- We recommend providing this context whenever possible, so you can press "OK" to select the appropriate comment. Select the comment and then press "OK" to apply it
- You'll then see your reading with the comment. Press "OK"
- The Guide will then confirm it "Connecting" to your phone
- The reading will then be available in Allie and the "Due" Task will be removed from the timeline. If Allie is open, you should see a "Glucose Levels Logged animation. The "Tasks completed" progress bar should show an additional Task has been completed. If your completed Tasks are collapsed, press the arrow to expand the section
The values and context in Allie should match the reading from your Guide. You will also see the "Bluetooth" symbol indicating it was sent via Bluetooth. If this is a required task for the day, there will be a check mark next to the reading.
The measurement will then be available shortly for your healthcare provider to review as needed. You can now turn the Guide off by removing the strip or holding the OK button (it will also turn off automatically after a minute or two).
If you are only expected to check your glucose once a day, you will not see any more glucose tasks for the day. However, if you take another blood glucose measurement, the new readings will be added to the "Completed" section. There will not be a check-mark for additional readings.
Please note: If you go to the Connected Devices page at any time, you should see the Device ID. You will only see the blue checkmark if the Guide is currently on.

If the data transfer into Allie does not work, you may or may not see the following error:
If the readings are not showing up, you can force the Guide to send any recent/un-synchronized reading to your phone by taking these steps:
- From the main menu, choose "My Data"
- Scroll down to the "Data Transfer" option and select it
- Then select the "Wireless" option
- The Guide should then indicate it is transferring the data
You should then see the new readings in Allie for the appropriate day(s).

Pairing Accu-Chek "Guide Me" BGM with Allie App
- To get started, turn the Guide Me over and make a note of the 6 digit PIN that you will need for pairing.
- Make sure the Guide Me is off, and then go to "Settings" in Allie at the bottom right corner
- From there, select "Connected Devices"
- Then choose "Blood Glucose Meters / CGM"
- Select the "Accu-Chek Guide Me" (you should see the text "No device paired" for all listed options)
- This will take you to Step 1 - Make sure your meter is turned off
- Tap "Continue" to be brought to Step 2 - Press and hold both buttons for 6 seconds until you see the blinking Bluetooth symbol. Blinking symbols appear when you are in pairing mode
- Use both fingers to press both of the buttons until you see the link and Bluetooth symbols:
- If you are not brought to then next screen automatically, tap "Continue" in Allie and you will be on the "Pairing" screen. You should see an indication that a meter is one of the "Active devices near you"
- Tap "Start Pairing" and you should see a "Bluetooth Pairing Request" from your phone. Locate the 6 digit PIN on the back of the Guide Me, then enter it into the field and tap "Pair"
- After a few seconds, you should see the text "OK" on the Guide Me, indicating that pairing is complete
- You should also see the "Success" confirmation in Allie. Tap "Continue" to leave the pairing mode
This will return you to the "Connected Devices" screen. You should now see text indicating that the meter is "Connected" or that the "Sync completed just now".
Uploading Blood Glucose Readings from Guide Me to Allie
Now that the Guide Me is paired to Allie, you will be able to send your readings to Allie, which will then be visible for your healthcare provider.
To upload a reading
- Make sure that you have Allie open
- Insert a strip into the Guide Me. You should then see the "drop" icon indicating it is waiting for you to take a reading
(If you do not see this screen when inserting a strip, please make sure your Guide Me is connected per the instructions above) - Apply blood/control solution to edge of strip. Try to use a single drop and make sure it is applied to the edge as best you can. You should then see the "hourglass" icon indicating it is analyzing your sample
- When the Guide Me has finished analyzing your blood, it will display your current blood glucose level
- In Allie, you will next be prompted to add context (fasting, before meal, after meal) to the reading, since this is not information captured by the Guide
- After adding context, the reading will be available in Allie and the previously "Due" Task is removed from the timeline. If your completed Tasks are collapsed, tap the arrow to expand the section
The values and context in Allie should match the reading from your Guide. You will also see the "Bluetooth" symbol indicating it was sent via Bluetooth. If this is a required task for the day, there will be a check mark next to the reading.
The measurement will then be available shortly for your healthcare provider to review as needed. You can now turn the Guide off by removing the strip or tapping the button on the side. It will also turn off automatically after a few minutes.
If you do NOT see the reading in Allie, the reading should synchronize the next time you turn on the Guide Me. Try turning it on/off once or twice to see the measurement in your phone. It should then be visible to your healthcare provider shortly.
If you are only expected to check your glucose once a day, you will not see any more glucose tasks for the day. However, if you take another blood glucose measurement, the new readings will be added to the "Completed" section. There will not be a check-mark for additional readings.
Please note: If you go to the Connected Devices page at any time, you should see the Device ID. You will only see the blue checkmark if the Guide is currently on.
However, if the connection is listed as "No device paired", that means you likely need to re-pair the meter, starting from the beginning.
